Missing Middle Housing are homes that blend in single-family neighborhoods that provide important housing options but require less infrastructure than large apartment complexes.
Current Reality: New state laws and current City housing policies require that San José accommodate for more housing. Through the General Plan, the City will make policy changes to build more Missing Middle Housing.
City's Goal: The City will encourage homes to be built that are more dense but fit into existing neighborhoods, increasing the number of homes in San José. This Missing Middle Housing is generally smaller and more affordable than single-family homes.
